When trying CBD for the first time, one of the most common questions our customers have is how much they should take. The truth is, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. The right CBD serving for you will depend on several factors, mainly the severity of the imbalances you are experiencing.
CBD oils (tinctures) are one of the most popular forms of CBD, and they come in various strengths. Our regular strength (500mg 30 serving) oil contains 17mg of CBD per serving, our extra strength oil (1250mg 30 serving, and 2500mg 60 serving) contains 42mg per serving, and our Black Label high potency tinctures (2500mg 30 serving and 5000mg 60 serving) contain 84mg per serving. When starting with CBD oils, most customers will start with a smaller serving size and gradually increase as needed.
A great starting place is 1-2 full droppers of our regular strength oil daily. The extra strength 1250 mg CBD oil is also a great place to start because you can use ½ dropper full at a time, which is equal to 1 dropper full of the 500 mg CBD oil. The bottle will last longer while you get an accurate assessment of how much CBD you like to use daily.
CBD Gummies and Softgels
Pure Spectrum gummies are an easy and delicious way to consume CBD. Our gummies are pre-portioned with 25mg of CBD per serving. They are also vegan, non-GMO, and gluten-free, making them a great option for those with dietary restrictions. CBD softgels are small, easy-to-swallow capsules that contain a pre-measured 30mg of CBD per capsule. Softgels are a good option for people who like to lay out their weekly supplements ahead of time or need a product that is easy to grab and go with. Softgels also have a longer shelf life compared to other forms of CBD products, making them a good option for those who want to stock up and have a long-term supply of CBD on hand.
Most customers start with 1-2 softgels or gummies per day, then gradually increase serving size as needed.
CBD’s Cumulative Effect
CBD has a cumulative effect, so it is important to take it consistently. As everybody’s needs are different, we encourage, experimenting with serving size/frequency to see what is best for you. According to US Patent 6630507, CBD is non-toxic in large quantities. Consider CBD a supplement that increases your wellness over time, unlike a pain killer or anti-anxiety pill you take and feel immediate effects. It can take up to a month for the CBD to build up in your system before you see the results you’re looking for. If you are not getting the results you are looking for after one month of consistent use, this indicates that you should try a higher-strength product, take a larger serving size, or incorporate another delivery method.
The reason CBD can take up to a month to begin working is because of the way CBD interacts with our Endocannabinoid System. The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a communication network that transmits information to and from all systems throughout the body. The ECS works to maintain homeostasis- the body’s optimal state. The ECS is essentially the motherboard of all the systems in your body and works to create balance and harmony. CBD interacts directly with the ECS by boosting the levels of our naturally occurring endocannabinoids.
When the ECS is out of balance, any system within the body can become compromised. Disruption may be caused by various things including diet, lifestyle, genetics, trauma, injury, toxins, and even daily stress. When someone starts taking CBD for the first time, depending on the severity of the imbalances they are experiencing, it can take a little while for their ECS to recalibrate.
